Chapter 714 - Visiting the in-laws: Port City of Hurley (Part 4)

After paying for the room, I went inside and freshened up. It did not even take me half an hour to do everything I needed to do amidst the incessantly arriving telepathy messages of Xenos, asking me if I have arrived at my destination and if I would be picking him up already. I simply said I just arrived and just found a place to stay but I want to find nice food places to have my meal first.Xenos immediately quieted down by a notch. He must have been thinking that I was tired and hungry so he shouldn’t be bothering me too much for now. Just when I thought that he would rest, he suddenly asked, "You are going shopping and you do not want me to see how much you will be spending."

It took every bit of my being not to laugh or make any audible reactions as I heard what Xenos just said. It was not a question but more of a statement said with confidence. I wanted to laugh out loud so badly because he was right.

I kept my voice composed as I replied, "Just looking around if there are nice things to buy in the port area. I am craving some seafood." He simply replied, "Fine." and went quiet. He did not send any messages afterwards.

After finishing my short conversation with Xenos, I went out of the inn again and into the now busy streets filled with the huge crowd of tired workers, street stall owners, visitors that are here for the night market, bunch of pickpockets and not surprisingly, night service workers.

A few minutes into walking into the crowd, I already encountered several people trying to get my purse which is of course non-existent since all my things are inside my personal space. Seeing that I am a lone woman who is in her late 20s (my disguise) and is somewhat dressed neatly, some night workers have bravely approached me to offer their services. Some are more discreet, offering to just guide me around and accompany me for the night.

As I was being bombarded by a bunch of good looking men trying to get my attention and my money, I felt a strong killing intent from somewhere left of where I was standing. I focused my senses on to that spot and saw the silhouette of a man from the second floor of a restaurant several meters away from where I was. It was only for a split second, like a lapse of judgement on his part. Releasing that much killing intent would surely give away someone’s position if you are to spy on someone.

It seems like I have a stalker tailing me this time. It is either someone who was paid to find my whereabouts or it was someone I personally know. Not that anybody with bad intentions can steal anything from me, kidnap me or kill me. I did not put much effort in identifying who it was since this person will most likely confront me before I get back to my inn tonight.

Though I know that someone started following me around, I continued going from one stall to the another, buying interesting things and even buying delicious street food to put in my storage to share with my people in the near future. I also saw a single stall selling good quality cloth so I bought yards of the nice looking colored ones for making clothes. I would be sending this to Yijing (my favorite tailor) to make clothes with.

After having my fill with the food and the shopping, I purposely walked towards the pier area where there weren’t that many people during the late evenings. It would be such a waste if my little spy won’t have the chance to make a move.

As I neared the darker and more secluded areas of the pier, I started walking faster as if I am fearing to be followed. As my steps became faster, the steps following right behind me became more indiscreet as I clearly hear them now. I made a sharp turn into an alley to my left then I levitated a few meters off of the ground and turned myself undetectable. I turned around while floating so I can see clearly who it was that was following me.

The person that was following me ran towards the alley as if he knew that I would not be able to run anywhere else this time. When he saw that there was nobody in the alley, I saw him kick on the ground in frustration. He looked to the sky that was barely illuminated by the moon and I saw a drop dead gorgeous face, a total giveaway that he isn’t human. I saw a patch of purplish scales on the part of his left jawline and neck going down to his collarbone that shimmered under the moonlight.

It was my turn to be surprised because as far as I know, there is only one purple dragon left in this world. Is this that seer of the dragons? Is he the one I befriended by accident?

Sure, we became friends for the past few weeks of talking with each other through a mind link but I forgot to tell him that I am quite playful with my friends and my people. I slowly floated down forward then landed right behind him while he was looking distracted and lost. With my top speed, I attacked him with a tiny mana orb with a thunder attribute that would only explode once it is absorbed by the target’s body. He did not even notice as it hit his back then got absorbed by his clothes and then eventually his skin.

I heard a loud gasp as he seemed to realize that something foreign entered his body. He abruptly turned around and saw me standing a few meters from him. He took a step forward seemingly wanting to meet me but before he could even reach me, I snapped my fingers which triggered the thunder orb take effect.

I saw the moment his eyes widened, his body twitched a few times then his pupils rolled back as he fell limply to the ground. I did use a spell to stop him from hitting the ground in full force. I do have a bit of conscience left in me.
